A slightly different take on the Beowulf story. I didn't care for it at first but it grew on me as the story progressed. Check it out if you're interested, but don't go out of your way.

A classic heroic tale in a new, eminently readable translation.

Keeping it on my shelf.

The Original Sources of the Qur'ân

by the Rev. W. St. Clair Tisdall, M.A., D.D.

I was reading over my wife's shoulder again, so to speak. In this 100-year-old volume, Rev. Tisdall links portions of the Quran to earlier Jewish, Christian and Zoroastrian writings. Some of the connections he makes are quite obvious, others are a bit more tenuous. If nothing else, he shed light on certain references in the Quran that made no sense tome when I first read them. And all in all it was a fun read... even if the Rev. neglected to translate most of his Arabic quotes.

Check it out! (Better try inter-library loan.)
The book's not even in LibraryThing!
